Harmonie There have been male German singing groups in the Peoria area since the 1800’s. The Harmonie Singers originated in 1967. This group strives to preserve the German traditions through both German and American music. Harmonie, along with The Kaiser Wilhelm Ratskeller Brummers, our sponsored band, have established the Richard P. Wolfe Scholarship, an annual music scholarship to Bradley University. This is one of the many community activities that Harmonie provides. You do not have to be a singer to join our organization. We have many other activities. We sponsor the Bratfest at Hickory Grove Park, throw horseshoes also at Hickory Grove, and set up food booths at local events such as The World Fest at the Civic Center and Oktoberfest at the Peoria Riverfront. A stag is held in the fall for all members and their invited guests, and a member appreciation dinner is also held in the fall. The fellowship shared among members is the strength of our club. I look forward to working with all members this year, and encourage everyone to get involved; we have a place and a need for every member’s special talent. Our meetings are at 7:00 the first Wednesday of the month, at the Lindenhof, October thru May, and at Hickory Grove, weather permitting, June thru September. A potluck dinner is held one hour prior to all meetings. President Andy Sepich |
